About quirion

quirion started in November 2013 as the digital asset management arm of Berlin's Quirin Privatbank AG and is therefore regarded as Germany's first robo-advisor; in 2018 the business was spun off into the independent quirion AG, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quirin Privatbank. quirion holds a BaFin permit for financial portfolio management (BaFin is the German financial regulator) but is not a bank itself. Accounts and depots are held at Quirin Privatbank AG, a German private bank under BaFin supervision: balances in the settlement account are protected there by the statutory deposit protection (Einlagensicherung) up to €100,000, and the ETF units in the depot are segregated assets that remain the investors' property even in an insolvency. It offers globally diversified ETF portfolios at several risk levels, sustainable variants and higher-tier packages with personal advice.

Special features

  • Wholly owned subsidiary of Quirin Privatbank AG
  • Founded by Karl Matthäus Schmidt, who had previously built up Consorsbank
  • ETF units in the depot are segregated assets
  • Additional voluntary deposit protection fund via Quirin Privatbank
