The kosten.org badge

How the rating is created

kosten.org is a comparison site. We do not test products ourselves – there are no lab or hands-on tests, no test purchases and no test accounts. Our rating is an editorial analysis based on two sources:

• Services and conditions as published by the provider (website, price list, terms and conditions) – as of the date shown on the badge.
• Customer reviews on independent platforms such as Trustpilot, where available.

Each product category has its own published methodology with exactly 100 points, which determines the grade. If there is no methodology for a category, we do not award a grade.

Independence

kosten.org is financed by commissions (affiliate links) and paid placements. Neither has any influence on the grade. The points result solely from the methodology. Paid placements are labelled “Anzeige” (advertisement) on the site; a listing or a paid placement improves neither the rating nor the position in a ranking by grade.

Two badges

• Rating – grade, points (out of 100) and date of the rating. Applies to the provider as a whole, not to a single product.
• Listed – only confirms that the provider is included in our directory. Not a rating, not a recommendation.

Terms of use

1. The badge may only be used by the provider it was issued for, and only in connection with its own offering.
2. It may only be embedded using the code from the provider portal. Editing, recreating, screenshots or saving it as your own image file are not permitted – this is the only way the badge always shows the current status.
3. The link to the source on kosten.org must remain. It shows the publisher, the date and the basis of the rating.
4. The badge must not be combined with claims that go beyond what it states – such as “top-rated provider”, “checked by kosten.org” or “recommended”, unless this is explicitly stated in our review.
5. If the rating changes, the badge changes automatically. We may withdraw a badge at any time, for example if a provider is removed from the directory or violates these terms.
6. Use is free of charge.

This English version is provided for convenience. In case of doubt, the German version of these terms applies.
