If you switch the currency to US dollars you will see higher amounts (Pro $16.99, Business $21.99).
Add-ons: what costs extra
With Zoom the plan price is rarely the final price. Many features have to be booked separately and require a paid base subscription. Zoom quotes add-on prices as a monthly amount with annual prepayment.

Euros or dollars: how Zoom shows its prices
The German pricing page is at zoom.us/de/pricing – the frequently linked address zoom.com/de/pricing ends on an error page instead. The “Prices in” switcher lets you choose between euros and US dollars.
The important point: the euro prices are a separate price list, not a conversion at the daily rate. Pro costs €15.99, but $16.99 in dollars; Business €20.99 against $21.99. If your billing address is in Germany you should therefore order in euros – that avoids exchange-rate risk and your credit card’s foreign-currency fees.
Which Zoom plan is right for you?
Basic is fine for short calls but ends after 40 minutes. The AI features are limited to three meeting summaries a month, and recordings are saved locally only.
Pro at €15.99 raises the duration to 30 hours and includes 10 GB of cloud storage per licence, plus unlimited AI summaries. The participant limit stays at 100. Pro can be booked for 1 to 99 licences.
Business at €20.99 raises the limit to 300 participants and adds administration and security features: single sign-on, managed domains, custom branding, unlimited whiteboards and scheduling pages, and APIs for archiving and data loss prevention. The current pricing page no longer states a minimum number of licences – Business can be booked for 1 to 250 licences.
Enterprise is aimed at organisations with more than 250 licences and bundles 500+ participants, unlimited cloud storage, Zoom Phone as a phone system and webinars with 500 participants, among other things. Prices are available through sales only. The pricing page no longer lists the plans “Business Plus” and “Enterprise Named Host” that used to appear.
Annual plan: 16.7% saving
For Pro, €15.99 on monthly payment compares with €13.33 on the annual plan – a saving of €2.66, or 16.7% per month, which works out at roughly €32 per licence over a year. For Business the saving is €3.50 per month at the same percentage. The annual plan is billed as a single payment in advance; payment by credit card and PayPal is possible.
There are separate plans for educational institutions: “School and Campus” costs €9.20 per user per month on annual billing, but only from 20 licences. According to Zoom, verified non-profit organisations get 50% off Pro, Business, Webinars and Large Meetings.
Cost example: a team of five
A team with five licences that holds meetings with up to 100 participants gets by with Pro. Calculated with the net prices from Zoom’s pricing page:
| Option | per month | per year |
|---|---|---|
| 5 × Pro, monthly | €79.95 | €959.40 |
| 5 × Pro, annual plan | €66.65 | ≈ €799.80 |
| 5 × Business, annual plan | €87.45 | ≈ €1,049.40 |
| 5 × Pro + 1 × Large Meeting 500, annual plan | €113.15 | ≈ €1,357.80 |
If you only occasionally have more than 100 participants, Business is often cheaper than Pro plus Large Meeting – as long as 300 seats are enough. Large Meeting only pays off if more than 300 people join regularly.
VAT and reverse charge
All prices on Zoom’s pricing page exclude taxes. According to Zoom, whether tax applies and how much depends on the customer’s billing address and status – the amount is shown in the basket before you pay. In practice that means:
- Private customers pay the VAT rate (Umsatzsteuer) of their billing address, which in Germany means 19% on the list prices.
- Businesses with a VAT ID number (USt-IdNr.) generally receive a net invoice and declare the tax themselves under the reverse-charge procedure in their own advance VAT return (Umsatzsteuer-Voranmeldung).
The real price for a private customer on Pro is therefore roughly €19.03 instead of the advertised €15.99, or roughly €15.86 per month on the annual plan.
The add-on trap
If you use Zoom as an all-in-one solution you quickly end up paying several times the plan price. An example for a Pro user on an annual plan who adds ZoomMate and the AI Productivity Suite: 13.33 + 18.40 + 9.20 = €40.93 net per month – a good three times the base plan.
Webinars are particularly expensive: the smallest tier of Zoom Webinars starts at 300 participants and costs €61.33 a month (annual plan) or €82 when paid monthly – on top of a Pro licence. Specialised webinar tools are often cheaper in this segment – we have compared them in our webinar software comparison.
What to check before you buy
- Check the currency: Before ordering, select “Euro €” in the switcher – the dollar price is higher.
- Estimate participant numbers realistically: Pro covers 100, Business 300 participants. Participants themselves need neither a licence nor an account.
- One licence per host: A licence allows an unlimited number of meetings, but not several at the same time by different people. If you host in parallel you need one licence each.
- Automatic renewal: The subscription renews itself monthly or annually. If you only need it for a single project, switch off renewal in good time.
- Live support: According to Zoom, chat support is only available for accounts with more than US$10 in monthly revenue, and phone support from US$200.
Alternatives to Zoom
In a business setting Microsoft 365 is the most obvious alternative, because Teams is already included in many business plans – current prices are on Microsoft’s own pricing page.
If you only need video conferencing occasionally, Jitsi Meet or Whereby will do. For self-hosted solutions, BigBlueButton and Nextcloud Talk are options – licence-free, but with server costs and administration effort.
Frequently asked questions about Zoom pricing
Zoom Workplace Pro costs €15.99 per user per month when billed monthly, and Business costs €20.99. With annual prepayment the monthly price falls to €13.33 (Pro) or €17.49 (Business). Basic is free, and Enterprise is available on request only. All amounts exclude VAT.
Yes. On zoom.us/de/pricing you can set the currency to “Euro €”, and Zoom then shows its own euro prices rather than a daily exchange-rate conversion. The euro prices are actually lower than the dollar prices: Pro costs €15.99 versus $16.99, and Business €20.99 versus $21.99. The address zoom.com/de/pricing, on the other hand, leads to an error page.
On the Basic plan a meeting ends after 40 minutes, the number of participants is capped at 100 and recordings are saved locally only. From Pro upwards, 30 hours per meeting and 10 GB of cloud storage per licence are included.
According to Zoom’s plan comparison, Pro covers 1 to 99 licences and Business 1 to 250. The minimum of ten licences for Business that used to apply is no longer listed on the current pricing page. From 250 licences Zoom points to Enterprise with an individual quote.
For Pro, €15.99 a month compares with €13.33 on the annual plan – a saving of €2.66, or 16.7%, per month, which works out at roughly €32 per licence over a year. For Business it is €3.50 less per month (also 16.7%), or roughly €42 a year. The annual plan is billed as a single payment in advance.
The list prices are net prices. According to Zoom, whether tax applies and how much depends on your billing address and status; the amount is shown in the basket before you pay. Private customers in Germany pay 19% VAT (Umsatzsteuer), which brings Pro to roughly €19.03 per month. Businesses with a valid VAT ID number (USt-IdNr.) generally receive a net invoice and account for the tax themselves under the reverse-charge procedure.
The basic features are included in the paid plans: according to the pricing page, Pro offers unlimited meeting summaries and meeting questions, whereas Basic offers only three summaries per month. The extended AI assistant ZoomMate costs €18.40 per month and the AI Productivity Suite €9.20 – in each case on annual billing and excluding VAT.

Yes. Depending on the term you choose, the subscription renews automatically every month or every year. According to Zoom you can cancel at any time during the term; cancelling stops the automatic renewal.
