About Evergreen
Evergreen was founded in Leipzig in 2018 by Iven Kurz and came to market in 2020 after receiving BaFin and Bundesbank authorisation and launching its own funds. The company is a fully licensed securities institution (Wertpapierinstitut) under section 15 of the German Securities Institutions Act (WpIG) and is under BaFin supervision (BaFin is the German financial regulator). Unlike most robo-advisors, Evergreen does not invest in third-party ETFs but in its own retail funds managed on ESG criteria, in which quantitative hedging strategies are used. There is no deposit protection (Einlagensicherung) of its own, as Evergreen is not a bank: the depot and settlement account are held at an independent custodian bank from the BNP Paribas group, where cash balances are covered by the statutory deposit protection up to €100,000. Capital invested in the funds is segregated assets, held separately from the company's assets, and does not form part of the insolvency estate.
Special features
- Founded by a former portfolio manager of Bankhaus Metzler and Lampe Asset Management
- Own mixed funds with quantitative hedging strategies
- Consistent ESG orientation of the fund strategies
- Depot held via an independent bank of the BNP Paribas group
