About OSKAR

OSKAR was founded in 2019 by Dominik Nienhaus, Jens Ohr and Peter Schille, who had previously built up the finance portal finanzen.net; the legal entity is OSKAR.de GmbH, based in Karlsruhe, in which Axel Springer SE also holds a stake. OSKAR itself has no permit of its own for financial portfolio management: asset management is carried out by the BaFin-licensed Scalable Capital Asset Management GmbH, while Baader Bank AG holds the account and depot (BaFin is the German financial regulator). As a result, balances in the settlement account are protected by the statutory German deposit protection (Einlagensicherung) up to €100,000 per customer, supplemented by the voluntary deposit protection fund of the Bundesverband deutscher Banken. The ETF units in the depot are segregated assets and remain the investors' property even if the companies involved become insolvent. In content terms, OSKAR is expressly aimed at families and, besides standard portfolios, offers children's depots, VL savings (vermögenswirksame Leistungen, employer-subsidised savings) and interest products.
