Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) has established itself as the European alternative to Mailchimp. The French all-in-one platform combines email marketing, SMS campaigns, WhatsApp Business, CRM and transactional emails under one roof. With a pricing model based on sending volume rather than just number of contacts, and servers in the EU, Brevo is particularly attractive to companies with large contact lists and few mailings. In our 100-point rating we examine whether Brevo lives up to its all-round claim.

Highlights of our Brevo review

  • Brevo scores 85/100 points in our rating.
  • Free: up to 100,000 contacts and 300 emails a day.
  • All-in-one: email, SMS, WhatsApp, CRM and transactional emails.
  • EU servers with a GDPR-compliant data processing agreement.

1 Features & automation

28/32
Points
Brevo offers a modern drag-and-drop editor with more than 60 templates and intuitive HTML editing. The brand design feature analyses your own website and automatically creates matching templates. The editor is fluid and modern in design – clearly more up to date than CleverReach's. Marketing automation is a highlight: the visual workflow builder allows complex multi-step campaigns with conditions, splits and wait times – to its full extent, however, only from the Standard plan (€15 a month). E-commerce triggers (abandoned carts, post-purchase emails) work out of the box with Shopify and WooCommerce. Lead scoring is based on opens, clicks and website visits. A/B testing for subject lines and content is also available from Standard. The integrated CRM (customer relationship management) enables deal pipelines and task management – a genuine unique selling point that otherwise requires separate software. Scoring (28/32): A modern editor, strong automation with CRM integration and good A/B tests. A deduction for the smaller template selection (60 vs 100+ at CleverReach) and the less mature lead scoring.

2 Deliverability & email infrastructure

15/18
Points
By default, Brevo sends via shared IP pools; kosten.org does not carry out its own deliverability measurements. SPF, DKIM and DMARC (email authentication standards) are fully configurable with detailed step-by-step instructions. Dedicated IP addresses are available in the higher plans or as an add-on. Brevo also offers an integrated transactional email service (SMTP relay), which can be used for confirmation emails, password resets and invoices. Bounce handling and automatic list hygiene work reliably. The integrated spam checker checks emails for potential problems before sending and gives suggestions for improvement. Scoring (15/18): Solid deliverability tools with an integrated transactional service. A slight deduction because only shared IPs are used as standard.

3 GDPR & data protection

13/16
Points
Brevo operates its servers in the EU and offers a GDPR-compliant data processing agreement. Double opt-in is configurable but not enabled by default – you have to actively choose the right setting. The unsubscribe function is implemented in a legally compliant way. As a French company, Brevo is directly subject to the European GDPR – no detour via standard contractual clauses as with US providers. Data processing takes place exclusively within the EU. Consent management records the consent times of each contact. German templates are available for the legal notice (Impressum) obligation in emails, though you have to set them up manually. The user interface is available in German, but some help articles exist only in English. Scoring (13/16): Good GDPR compliance with EU servers and a data processing agreement. Deductions because double opt-in is not active by default and the legal notice integration has to be done manually.

4 Integrations & ease of use

17/20
Points
Brevo shines with more than 150 native integrations: Shopify, WooCommerce, WordPress, Salesforce, HubSpot and many more. The REST API and webhooks are extensively documented and enable in-depth custom connections. Zapier integration extends the possibilities to thousands of other tools. The user interface is modern and intuitive – onboarding guides new users through initial set-up with a wizard-assisted process. The learning curve is low, although the large number of functions (email, SMS, CRM, chat) can seem overwhelming at first. The all-in-one philosophy is a strength and a weakness at the same time: anyone who wants everything from one source saves on multiple subscriptions. Anyone who only wants to send newsletters implicitly pays for unused functionality. Scoring (17/20): Outstanding variety of integrations and a modern UI. Deductions for the potentially overwhelming density of functions and English-language help articles.

5 Price & plans

12/14
Points
Like Mailjet, Brevo bills by sending volume rather than just number of contacts (as of October 2026, according to brevo.com, monthly payment): the free plan allows up to 100,000 contacts and 300 emails a day. Starter costs €7 for 5,000 emails a month (contact limit 500), €14 for 10,000 emails (1,500 contacts), €21 for 15,000 emails (2,500 contacts) and €28 for 20,000 emails (up to 500,000 contacts). Full marketing automation and A/B tests come from Standard (€15 a month). With annual payment the price falls by 10%. The pricing page does not state whether prices are net or gross. For large lists with few mailings the model is attractive: 10,000 contacts with two newsletters a month cost €28 at Brevo, against €129 net at CleverReach Pro. With weekly sending the advantage shrinks, because the email volume grows too. In Free and Starter, the Brevo logo appears in every email; in Starter it can be removed for €9 a month. Scoring (12/14): Very good value for money thanks to the volume-based model and a generous free plan. A deduction for the logo and contact limits in the small tiers.

Conclusion: Brevo review

85/100
Very good (1.8)

Brevo scores 85 out of 100 points: the volume-based pricing model makes Brevo very inexpensive for companies with large contact lists and few mailings (Starter from €7 a month). The all-in-one platform with email, SMS, CRM and transactional emails saves on multiple subscriptions. For data hosting in Germany, however, we recommend CleverReach.
