Points

Vivid Money is a Luxembourg e-money institution that offers a business account with unlimited free SEPA transfers, sub-accounts and native accounting integrations. Its plans range from the free Free Start account to Enterprise packages. Vivid Money scores 75 out of 100 points in our rating.

Highlights of our Vivid Money review

  • Vivid Money scores 75 out of 100 points in our rating, which equals the grade Good (2.3).
  • Unlimited free SEPA transfers and direct debits on all plans, including the free plan.
  • Native connections to DATEV, lexoffice and sevDesk, plus archiving of receipts in line with GoBD (German digital record-keeping rules).
  • No formation account for paying in share capital and no German-language phone hotline.

1 Account fees & charges

24/30
Points
For business customers, Vivid offers five levels. Free Start costs €0 a month, Basic is €6.90 with annual payment or €8.90 monthly, and Pro is €18.90 or €24.90. The Enterprise packages for larger teams start at €79 a month. Getting started is therefore possible permanently free of charge. The treatment of transactions is particularly noteworthy: SEPA transfers including instant transfers and SEPA direct debits are included without limit and without individual fees on all plans, including the free Free Start plan. That is the exception among the providers compared, because most free accounts start charging after five to thirty bookings. Vivid does not accept cash, however; deposits are not possible, withdrawals are only made by card at cash machines and are chargeable beyond the plan-dependent allowances. Scoring (24/30): The monthly base price receives the full 14 points for the free Free Start plan. We award the full 10 points for included transactions because unlimited free SEPA bookings are included on every plan. Cash deposits and withdrawals get 0 points, as cash deposits are not possible.

2 Cards & payments

15/20
Points
Vivid issues a physical Mastercard Business debit card and a practically unlimited number of virtual cards. A genuine credit card with a credit line and consolidated billing is not part of the offer. On the free Free Start plan the card provision is limited: a virtual card costs €1 and a physical card €2 a month there, while cards are included on the paid plans. Additional cards for employees can be given individual spending limits and category approvals, but depending on the plan they are chargeable. Vivid is strongly positioned for payments. In addition to unlimited SEPA transfers, instant transfers and SEPA direct debit collection are included at no extra charge on all plans. Bulk transfers and mass payments to suppliers or employees are also part of the standard range. Scoring (15/20): We award 5 points for the cards included in the base price, as in effect one debit card is available and a genuine credit card is missing. Additional cards for employees with spending limits are available but chargeable, which gives 3 out of 5 points. SEPA direct debit collection is included on all plans and receives the full 7 points.

3 Accounting & integration

20/20
Points
Vivid has expanded its accounting connectivity considerably in recent years. There are native integrations with DATEV, lexoffice and sevDesk, so transactions and receipts are passed on automatically. Standard export formats are also available, so tax advisers without a direct connection can be supplied too. Receipts can be uploaded in the app and the web portal and are matched to transactions automatically; since June 2026 they have been archived in line with GoBD. Vivid provides sub-accounts through so-called pockets, which have their own IBAN and are therefore suitable as full reserve accounts for VAT, profit or project budgets. Scoring (20/20): The interfaces to accounting software reach the full 10 points because a DATEV connection and several accounting tools are supported natively. Receipt capture with automatic matching in the account gives 6 points. For several free sub-accounts with their own IBAN we award the full 4 points.

4 Legal forms & account opening

8/16
Points
Vivid runs business accounts for freelancers, sole proprietorships and traders, as well as for corporations such as the GmbH and UG. For partnerships such as the GbR, OHG and KG we could not find a reliable commitment in the publicly available documents. We therefore apply our methodology rule cautiously on this criterion and state the missing information here openly. Vivid does not offer a deposit account for the share capital of a GmbH or UG in formation; the account can only be used as a current business account after registration. According to the provider, account opening itself takes around ten minutes, identification is by video ident and the account is usually usable immediately afterwards. Scoring (8/16): For permitted legal forms we award 4 points, because coverage of partnerships could not be verified and the full breadth is therefore not demonstrated. The formation or capital deposit account gets 0 points, as it is not offered. The account opening process and its duration are fully digital with usability within 24 hours and receive 4 points.

5 Security & service

8/14
Points
Vivid Money S.A. is an e-money institution authorised in Luxembourg and not a bank. The cooperation with the German Solaris ended in June 2024. Balances in the payment account are held at the partner bank Natixis and are protected up to €100,000 by the French deposit guarantee scheme FGDR; for the separate interest account, different protection applies through a Dutch body with a lower coverage limit. Service is the biggest weakness: a German-language phone hotline for business customers could not be verified. Support runs via live chat and email, but around the clock. The banking app is available for iOS and Android and covers the full range of functions including card control, receipt capture and pockets; a web portal is also available. Scoring (8/14): We award 4 points for deposit protection and supervision, because the funds are held at a partner bank with statutory deposit protection, but Vivid itself has no banking licence. Customer service reachability receives 1 point, as only chat and email can be verified. The banking app for iOS and Android with full functionality receives 3 points.

Conclusion: Vivid Money review

75/100
Good (2.3)

Vivid Money is the strongest offer in the field when it comes to payments and accounting connectivity: unlimited free SEPA bookings, DATEV, lexoffice, sevDesk and sub-accounts with their own IBAN are not available anywhere else in this combination at no cost. Anyone who wants to form a GmbH, pay in cash or speak to a German-speaking adviser by phone, however, will have to turn to another provider.
