About tradegate.direct
tradegate.direct is the retail offer of Tradegate AG (until July 2024 Tradegate AG Wertpapierhandelsbank), based in Berlin, launched in June 2024. The company has operated the Tradegate electronic trading system since 2001, from which Tradegate Exchange emerged as a regular stock exchange in 2009; Deutsche Börse AG holds a significant stake. Because Tradegate AG has a banking licence and is under BaFin supervision (BaFin is the German financial regulator), balances in the settlement account are protected by the statutory deposit protection (Einlagensicherung) up to €100,000 per customer; securities in the depot are customer property and do not form part of the insolvency estate. Private investors trade shares, ETFs, ETPs and leveraged products with no order, exchange or depot fees, but exclusively via the in-house trading venue. Savings plans are possible, and depot opening is fully digital.
