sipgate is the German VoIP pioneer par excellence. The Düsseldorf company has offered cloud telephony for businesses since 2004. In our rating, sipgate convinces with a powerful API, transparent plans and data protection – the phone system is hosted in Germany.

Highlights of our sipgate review

  • Hosted in Germany
  • REST API for custom integrations
  • From €12.95 per user (business S, minimum 2 users)
  • Cancellable monthly, 30-day no-obligation trial

1 Features & telephony

26/30
Points
The sipgate phone system offers a full cloud PBX with an IVR voice menu, ring groups, simultaneous ringing and queues. The unified communications features include team chat and presence status. Particularly strong: the CLI tools and REST API allow deep integration into your own workflows. Mobile apps for iOS and Android are available, as are desktop clients. Voicemail-to-email, fax-to-email and call recording round off the package. What is missing: native video conferencing – here sipgate relies on Microsoft Teams integration.

2 Voice quality & reliability

20/22
Points
sipgate hosts the phone system in Germany. HD voice (G.722) is standard, and the voice quality is regarded as very good. QoS mechanisms ensure prioritised voice packets. You should check specific SLA commitments in the contract. Scalability is given – from 2 users upwards, additional lines cost €4.95. Session border controllers and NAT traversal work reliably.

3 Integrations & administration

16/18
Points
This is where sipgate scores particularly well: the REST API is excellently documented and enables webhook-based real-time events. CRM integrations for HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive and Zoho are available via the paid sipgate app (Business €9.95, Premium €19.95 per user). The admin interface is functional, if not the most modern. Provisioning for Yealink and Grandstream phones is automated.

4 Security & data protection

15/16
Points
sipgate relies on hosting in Germany, SRTP encryption and TLS-secured signalling. A data processing agreement is available as standard. 2FA for admin access, IP-based access rules and fraud detection are implemented. GDPR compliance is exemplary.

5 Price & plans

10/14
Points
The phone system costs (as of October 2026, according to sipgate.de) per user per month: business S €12.95, business L €17.95 (including a landline flat rate to all German networks) and business XL €22.95, each from 2 users. All plans can be cancelled monthly and tried for 30 days without obligation, and phone numbers can be ported free of charge. On the S plan, landline calls are billed by the minute; additional lines cost €4.95. CRM integrations via the sipgate app cost €9.95 or €19.95 per user extra, and SIP trunking (sipgate trunking) starts at €0. There is no free plan for the phone system. These are business customer plans; the pricing page contains no explicit VAT note.
