About Pepperstone

Pepperstone was founded in Melbourne in 2010 by Owen Kerr and Joe Davenport and is now one of the larger international CFD and forex brokers, with locations including London, Cyprus and Dubai. For German customers, contrary to a common assumption, the responsible company is not the Cypriot or British one but Pepperstone GmbH, based on Neubrückstraße in Düsseldorf, which has had its own BaFin permit as a securities institution (Wertpapierinstitut) since 2020 (BaFin ID 10151148). Over 1,000 instruments are traded as CFDs on currencies, indices, shares, commodities and cryptocurrencies, mostly via MetaTrader 4 and 5, cTrader and TradingView. There is no deposit protection (Einlagensicherung) because Pepperstone is not a credit institution: client money is held separately from company assets in segregated accounts at regulated banks, and in the event of a default the Entschädigungseinrichtung der Wertpapierhandelsunternehmen (EdW, the investor compensation scheme for securities firms) applies, with a maximum of €20,000. BaFin has repeatedly warned about fake websites that misuse the Pepperstone name.
