Moz Pro is a veteran of the SEO industry and created one of the best-known metrics, Domain Authority. We check whether the tool is still competitive in 2026.

Highlights of our Moz Pro review

  • Domain Authority as the industry reference
  • Strong community & learning resources
  • MozBar free
  • Standard from US$79/month (annual)

1 Keyword research

16/25
Points
The Keyword Explorer tool offers access to 500 million keywords – solid, but considerably fewer than Semrush or Ahrefs. Moz's keyword difficulty was long regarded as the reference and is well calibrated. SERP analysis shows relevant metrics such as the DA and PA of the results. For the DACH market, however, the data is less extensive than at Sistrix or Semrush.

2 Backlink analysis

16/25
Points
Moz Link Explorer offers a link index of 40 trillion links. Domain Authority and Page Authority are metrics used by SEOs worldwide. In recent years Moz has greatly expanded the link index, but it does not quite match Ahrefs' freshness. For assessing link sources, DA is nevertheless a valuable addition.

3 Site audit & technical

14/20
Points
Moz offers a comprehensive site audit with clear prioritisation of the problems found. Crawl capacity is 3,000 pages/month on the Standard plan. Results are presented with concrete recommendations, which is particularly helpful for SEO beginners. On-page grading for individual pages rounds off the package.

4 Additional features

10/15
Points
The MozBar Chrome extension is free and shows DA/PA directly in the SERPs – a tool used by millions of SEOs. Moz Academy offers first-class SEO learning resources, and the community is one of the most active in the industry. Rank tracking for 300 keywords with weekly updates is included. Custom reports help with client communication.

5 Usability & price

10/15
Points
Operation is solid, but the interface looks somewhat dated compared with newer tools such as SE Ranking or Mangools. The Standard plan costs US$79/month with annual payment (US$99 monthly) with 3 projects and 300 keywords; Moz is therefore in tough competition with Semrush (more features). Moz currently offers a free trial only for the Medium plan.

Pros & cons at a glance

Pros

  • Domain Authority recognised worldwide
  • Very good SEO learning resources
  • MozBar free
  • Free individual tools

Cons

  • Interface somewhat dated
  • Smaller database than top providers
  • DACH data less strong

Conclusion: Moz Pro review

66/100
Good (2.7)

Moz Pro scores 66 out of 100 points and is a respectable choice, especially for SEO teams that value the established DA metric and first-class learning resources. For the DACH market, however, Sistrix and Semrush are better alternatives.
