As an introducing broker, LYNX arranges securities custody accounts held at Interactive Brokers Ireland (IBIE) and advertises a securities custody account from 0 euros. Access extends across more than 100 exchanges in over 30 countries, including XETRA (IBIS). Savings plans are not part of the offering, which is clearly reflected in this rating.

Highlights of our LYNX review

  • 48 out of 100 points – Satisfactory (3.6) in the custody account review
  • Custody with no basic fee, no monthly minimum activity fee
  • XETRA order at 0.14 per cent, minimum 5.80 euros
  • No ETF savings plans on offer

1 Custody account fee

20/20
Points
LYNX holds the securities custody account without a basic fee. The home page advertises the slogan "securities custody account from 0 euros", and the schedule of prices and services for LYNX B.V. Germany Branch (as of 01.08.2026) shows the monthly minimum activity fee for individual and joint accounts as 0.00 euros. No minimum deposit is required; LYNX merely recommends 3,000 euros as a sensible starting amount. A separate current account is not needed. The settlement account is part of the account held at Interactive Brokers Ireland and can be held in several currencies. Scoring (20/20): Custody is free of charge without condition (15 points), and an additional current account is not required (5 points).

2 Trading costs

5/25
Points
The schedule of prices and services lists XETRA (IBIS) at 0.14 per cent of the order volume with a minimum of 5.80 euros and a maximum of 99.00 euros. The same rates apply to Tradegate and Gettex. At the Frankfurt and Stuttgart exchanges, a base fee of 4.90 euros plus 0.14 per cent is added. A one-off investment of 500 euros in a German share via XETRA therefore costs 5.80 euros because the minimum fee applies. ETFs are considerably more expensive: here LYNX charges 0.20 per cent with a minimum of 8.00 euros per order, in US dollars 0.01 US dollars per unit with a minimum of 10.00 US dollars and a maximum of 3.00 per cent. US shares cost 0.01 US dollars per share with a minimum of 5.00 US dollars, EUREX options 2.00 euros per contract, the Micro-DAX future 0.99 euros. For investment and leveraged products from the partner UniCredit, transaction costs are waived at gettex for order volumes between 1,000 and 10,000 euros. There is no ETF savings plan at LYNX. Neither the schedule of prices and services nor the navigation or the website search turns up a savings plan offering; there are consequently no execution costs for a 400-euro instalment to rate either. Scoring (5/25): An ETF savings plan is not offered (0 of 12 points). The 500-euro one-off investment costs 5.80 euros via XETRA and falls in the band up to 7 euros (2 of 10 points); as an ETF order it would even be at least 8.00 euros. XETRA orders are possible (3 points).

3 Savings plan offering

0/20
Points
LYNX does not offer securities or ETF savings plans. Searching for the term "Sparplan" on lynxbroker.de turns up not a single substantive hit, the schedule of prices and services of 01.08.2026 contains no savings plan item, and no savings plan product appears in the product navigation (shares, options, futures, ETFs, crypto, forex, certificates, warrants, CFDs). All three criteria of this chapter are therefore moot: there is neither a savings-plan-eligible ETF universe nor free savings plans nor a minimum savings amount. Investors who want to invest automatically in fixed instalments are simply not addressed by LYNX; the offering is aimed at self-directed investors who place individual orders. Scoring (0/20): In the absence of a savings plan offering, all points in this chapter are lost – number of ETF savings plans (0 of 8), free ETF savings plans (0 of 7), minimum savings amount (0 of 5).

4 Product range

14/15
Points
In terms of range, LYNX plays in the top league. The provider states access to more than 100 exchanges in more than 30 countries and trading in more than 20 currencies; the markets page speaks of millions of tradable products. Share trading therefore covers the threshold of 7,500 tradable securities many times over. On ETFs, LYNX states access to ETFs on more than 90 international exchanges, with more than 8,000 ETFs tradable on European exchanges alone. Short selling of ETFs and options on ETFs are possible. Bonds are covered in their own section of the schedule of prices and services, and derivatives are broadly represented with options, futures, certificates, warrants and CFDs. Genuine cryptocurrencies, on the other hand, are not available. LYNX's crypto page describes only crypto products in the form of futures and exchange traded products; genuine coins are not held in custody. Scoring (14/15): More than 8,000 ETFs on European exchanges alone (6 points) and share access on more than 100 exchanges, far above the 7,500 threshold (6 points). Of crypto, derivatives and bonds, only two are directly tradable, with cryptocurrencies only in derivative form (2 of 3 points).

5 Interest & extras

2/8
Points
By its own account, LYNX does not pay credit interest itself. The interest page states in so many words that LYNX is not a bank, does not conduct deposit business and therefore does not pay out credit interest. Interest is paid via Interactive Brokers Ireland, with LYNX deducting a 2 per cent mark-down on settled long cash balances. The formula is: credit interest equals the minimum of the IBKR interest rate and the maximum of the IBKR interest rate minus the LYNX mark-down and zero. If the mark-down exceeds the IBKR interest, no interest is paid at all. With a net liquidation value below 100,000 US dollars, the interest is also reduced proportionally, and 20 per cent Irish withholding tax is due on IBIE interest. The concrete euro interest rate is output on the page only in an interactive calculator, which could not be read out; a verifiable euro interest figure is therefore not available. As extras, LYNX advertises two promotions: with the refer-a-customer scheme, the referrer and the new customer each receive up to 100 euros commission refund, with the new customer having to carry out at least one transaction within the first three months after the initial deposit. The free-trade promotion with UniCredit refunds transaction costs for investment and leveraged products of this issuer, but does not specify an amount. A freely accessible new-customer bonus without a referral code does not exist. Scoring (2/8): A verifiable euro credit interest rate cannot be read out on the provider's page, and with low IBKR rates LYNX arithmetically pays zero because of the 2 per cent mark-down (0 of 5 points). The new-customer benefit of up to 100 euros is a commission refund and requires a referral by an existing customer as well as a transaction, so only the middle band is awarded (2 of 3 points).

6 Usability

3/8
Points
LYNX provides its own trading apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, plus the LYNX+ web trader, the Client Portal and the Trader Workstation. Via the apps, securities can be ordered on more than 100 exchanges, charts analysed and analyst reports read; a demo account can also be used on mobile. LYNX does not publish a star rating from the app stores on its own pages, so the more conservative band is applied here. One restriction applies to price data: according to the market data page, the trading platforms show time-delayed prices by default, with a delay of usually 15 minutes. Real-time data is available through free and paid subscriptions in the Client Portal, and a subscription requires a minimum custody account value of 200 US dollars. Which exchange venues are specifically available free of charge in real time is not stated. Scoring (3/8): Apps for iOS and Android are verified, the provider does not publish a star rating (3 of 5 points). Real-time prices are not the standard and not consistently free of charge (0 of 3 points).

7 Customer service & security

4/4
Points
Telephone support is a plus point. On its contact page, LYNX gives the free number 0800 5 969000 as well as +49 30 303 28 66 90. The service team can be reached Monday to Thursday from 8:00 to 20:00 and Friday from 8:00 to 18:00, and telephone order support is expressly offered free of charge. Outside these times, English-language Interactive Brokers support is available around the clock. Investors should look closely at deposit protection. The schedule of prices and services applies to LYNX B.V. Germany Branch, but the accounts are held at Interactive Brokers Ireland. The Irish Investor Compensation Scheme therefore applies, with cover of 90 per cent and a maximum of 20,000 euros – significantly less than the 100,000 euros of German deposit protection (Einlagensicherung). Interest income is also subject to Irish withholding tax of 20 per cent. Scoring (4/4): Free telephone support via a 0800 number is verified, and telephone order support is also free of charge (4 points).

Conclusion: LYNX review

48/100
Satisfactory (3.6)

LYNX is a well-thought-out broker for active investors with large order volumes, worldwide exchange access and strong German-language telephone support. Measured against a classic custody account comparison, the result is nevertheless only satisfactory, because savings plans are missing entirely, small orders fall foul of the minimum fee and balances effectively remain without interest.
