1 Features (26/30 points)

26/30
Points
Lexware Office offers a solid range of features for cloud accounting. The scope depends heavily on the plan: plan S offers receipt capture and archive, from plan M quotes, invoices and reminders are added, from plan L bookkeeping, cash-basis profit calculation (Einnahmen-Überschuss-Rechnung, EÜR) and VAT pre-returns, and plan XL additionally recurring, advance-payment and EU invoices as well as the API. Receipt capture works via app and OCR text recognition – although not as intelligently as sevDesk's AI solution. According to Lexware, e-invoices (XRechnung, ZUGFeRD) can be captured, i.e. received and processed, on all plans, as every business has been required to do since 1 January 2025; creating and sending e-invoices requires at least plan M. Banking integration works reliably and matches account transactions automatically. Scoring (26/30): A good range of features for most self-employed people. E-invoices can be received on all plans and created from plan M. Deduction for the less intelligent receipt capture and because cash-basis accounting and VAT pre-returns are only included from plan L.

2 Usability (23/25 points)

23/25
Points
Usability is Lexware Office's great strength. The interface is designed so simply that even absolute accounting newcomers can get started straight away. Everything feels tidy and self-explanatory – where other providers use technical terms, Lexware Office relies on plain language. The dashboard shows the most important key figures clearly, and navigation is intuitive. The mobile app for iOS and Android is well implemented and lets you capture receipts on the move. Lexware Office is ideal especially for freelancers and the self-employed without commercial training. Scoring (23/25): Excellent user guidance for beginners. Only a minimal deduction because advanced users sometimes miss more options.

3 Pricing (24/25 points)

24/25
Points
Lexware Office has clearly tiered plans. According to lexware.de/preise (as of 30 October 2026, all prices net plus VAT, cancellable monthly) plan S costs €7.90 a month and covers receipt capture and archive. Plan M at €12.90/month includes quotes, (e-)invoices and reminders, plan L at €21.90/month additionally bookkeeping, EÜR and VAT pre-returns – so for most self-employed people at least L is relevant. The XL plan at €32.90/month additionally includes recurring, advance-payment and EU invoices, automatic receipt intake by email and the public API. Time-limited introductory discounts are offered regularly. The Haufe group as parent company guarantees long-term stability. Scoring (24/25): Excellent value for money – with accounting and EÜR (cash-basis accounting) from €21.90, cheaper than comparable sevDesk plans. Small deduction because Papierkram offers EÜR from €15.90.

4 Support (16/20 points)

16/20
Points
Lexware Office's support is solid but not outstanding. Telephone support and email contact are available, and availability is good. The staff are competent and can answer most questions quickly. The knowledge base is comprehensive and well structured. Live webinars complement the offering and teach both software skills and accounting basics. However, there is no live chat for quick queries – something competitors such as sevDesk handle better. Scoring (16/20): Good support through classic channels. Deduction for the missing live chat and the sometimes longer waiting times on the phone.
