1 Rent deposit guarantee

21/25
Points
The rent deposit guarantee is INZMO's core product and an interesting alternative to the classic cash deposit. Instead of parking up to three months' net rent in a deposit account, INZMO arranges a guarantee from an insurer that secures the landlord. You pay a premium for this, which INZMO advertises as "from €3.25 / month"; the exact amount depends on the deposit sum and is determined in the online calculator. The advantage: your money stays available – you can use it for moving costs, new furniture or simply as an emergency fund. Purchase is entirely online. You upload your tenancy agreement, INZMO checks your creditworthiness and issues the guarantee certificate. Landlords generally accept this – deposit guarantees have by now become established as standard. Important to know: the guarantee is not insurance. If you cause damage that the landlord claims from INZMO, you will be called on to repay. INZMO is therefore not a free pass for carelessness in the flat.

2 Smartphone insurance

20/25
Points
INZMO's smartphone insurance covers the most common causes of damage: screen breakage, water damage, electronic defects and theft. The plans are tailored to different device classes, so you do not pay for a flagship smartphone if you own a mid-range device. Premiums are graded by the device's new price – according to INZMO's plan overview, from €1.99 a month (devices up to €100) to €16.99 a month (up to €4,000, with theft protection). In the event of a claim, an excess dependent on the purchase price applies, and for theft 20% of the original purchase price. When a claim is made, the device is either repaired or an equivalent replacement device is provided. The big advantage lies in simplicity: you insure your device online in a few minutes with no paperwork; used devices can be insured up to 24 months after the purchase date. In the event of a claim, you report the incident via the app, upload photos and quickly receive a response. The insurance makes sense for heavy users and anyone who actively uses their expensive smartphone. Anyone who changes their device every two years anyway and treats it carefully should work out beforehand whether the premium is worth it.

3 Digital process

21/25
Points
INZMO consistently relies on a fully digital process – from application to claims reporting there is no paperwork. The app and the web interface are modern in design and clearly laid out. Concluding the contract takes only a few minutes. You choose the product, enter your details, confirm your creditworthiness and receive all documents digitally straight away. For the rent deposit guarantee, the certificate is provided as a PDF that you can present to your landlord. Digital handling is also convenient in the event of a claim. You document the damage with photos, describe how it happened and submit everything via the app. Processing is quick, and you are informed of the status by push notification. Customer service is primarily reached via chat and email – telephone support is possible but not the main channel. For digitally savvy users that is ideal; anyone who prefers personal advice will have to get used to it.

4 Brand awareness

16/25
Points
As a relatively young insurtech from Berlin, INZMO is not yet as well known as established competitors such as Wertgarantie, hepster or traditional insurance providers. The company was founded in 2016 and has been steadily gaining reach since. Lower awareness has practical effects: there are fewer experience reports and reviews online, which makes it harder for new customers to assess. The existing reviews on Trustpilot and Google are predominantly positive, but the data basis is smaller than for the big players. This is relevant for acceptance by landlords – not every landlord knows INZMO and accepts the guarantee certificate without questions. Most can be persuaded, though, since the concept matches that of established providers. INZMO is investing increasingly in marketing and partnerships. Through cooperation with removal companies and property portals, the brand is becoming more visible, so awareness is likely to rise in future.
