86/100
Points

finanzen.net zero is the neobroker of the financial portal finanzen.net; the account and custody account are held by Baader Bank, while finanzen.net zero GmbH acts as a tied agent (gebundener Vermittler). We rated the securities custody account out of 100 points using the kosten.org custody account methodology. The basis is the provider's terms pages and the schedule of prices and services (Preis- und Leistungsverzeichnis) in version V12, as of July 2026.

Highlights of our finanzen.net zero review

  • finanzen.net zero scores 86 out of 100 points in our review.
  • Custody, settlement account and all savings plan executions cost 0 euros.
  • Orders from a market value of 500 euros are commission-free; below that, a 1 euro small-order surcharge applies.
  • There is no Xetra access and no telephone customer service.

1 Custody account fee

20/20
Points
The schedule of prices and services shows 0.00 euros for custody. There is no basic fee, no inactivity fee and no minimum holding. Running the settlement account is also free of charge. No current account at another bank is needed: the settlement account is opened together with the custody account at Baader Bank as the institution holding the account, and deposits are made by transfer or direct debit from the reference account. No additional account costs arise as a result. Scoring (20/20): The custody account fee is unconditionally free (15/15), and a separate current account is not required (5/5).

2 Trading costs

22/25
Points
finanzen.net zero trades shares, ETFs and funds via gettex and off-exchange direct trading with no order fee. From a market value of 500 euros, the order is commission-free; below this limit, the broker charges a small-order surcharge of 1.00 euro according to its price list. A one-off investment of 500 euros therefore costs 0.00 euros. For fractional-share executions, 1.00 euro is charged separately. Savings plan executions are free regardless of the instalment, so a 400-euro ETF savings plan costs 0.00 euros. The decisive drawback is the choice of trading venues: finanzen.net zero offers only gettex and off-exchange trading. There is no access to Xetra or other reference exchanges – anyone who wants to place orders outside gettex trading hours or on a reference exchange cannot do so here. Scoring (22/25): The 400-euro ETF savings plan is free (12/12), as is the 500-euro one-off investment (10/10). Xetra orders are not possible, hence zero points for this criterion (0/3).

3 Savings plan offering

20/20
Points
On its savings plan page, the provider states more than 2,000 savings-plan-eligible ETFs, plus around 8,000 shares, 58 crypto assets and around 100 funds. This reaches the top methodology band of 2,000 ETF savings plans. All savings plan executions are free; there is no split into paid and promotional savings plans. The minimum savings amount is 1 euro, and execution takes place weekly, fortnightly, monthly or quarterly, as you choose. Scoring (20/20): More than 2,000 ETF savings plans (8/8), all of them free (7/7), minimum savings amount 1 euro (5/5).

4 Product range

14/15
Points
In its feature overview, finanzen.net zero lists around 8,500 tradable shares, around 2,000 ETFs, around 3,000 funds, 58 crypto assets and around one million derivatives. For a neobroker, that is a broad offering, although the selection of shares and ETFs is smaller than at traditional direct banks. Bonds are not tradable. Anyone who wants to hold individual fixed-income securities in their custody account needs another broker for that; the gap can only be closed indirectly through bond ETFs. Scoring (14/15): Around 2,000 ETFs reach the top band (6/6), and around 8,500 shares are above the 7,500 threshold (6/6). Of the three additional asset classes, crypto and derivatives are available, bonds are not (2/3).

5 Interest & extras

2/8
Points
According to the schedule of prices and services, balances in the settlement account earn 0.00 per cent interest. finanzen.net zero does not offer an interest-bearing instant-access savings or interest account within the custody relationship; the provider instead points to money market ETFs, which are, however, a securities investment and not account interest. On extras, the broker is active: at the time of data collection, a new-customer promotion with a 50-euro bonus, a free-shares promotion worth 25 euros and a custody account transfer cashback of up to 240 euros were running. We count the regularly advertised new-customer bonus of 50 euros; the higher cashback amounts are tied to the volume of the transferred custody account and are therefore not attainable for every new customer. Scoring (2/8): There is no interest at all on the settlement account (0/5). The new-customer bonus of 50 euros reaches the middle band (2/3).

6 Usability

8/8
Points
The finanzen.net zero app is among the best rated in the custody account comparison: 4.7 stars from around 26,750 ratings in the App Store and 4.6 stars from around 25,600 ratings in the Google Play Store (as of September 2026). Both platforms are therefore above the 4.5-star threshold. A web interface is also available. Real-time prices are part of the standard offering and are shown in the app and web interface without an additional subscription, supplemented by push notifications on order execution and a watchlist. Scoring (8/8): Apps for iOS and Android, each with at least 4.5 stars (5/5), and free real-time prices (3/3).

7 Customer service & security

0/4
Points
finanzen.net zero does not offer telephone customer service. Contact for existing customers runs exclusively via a ticket system and the service team's email address. The telephone numbers given in the legal notice (Impressum) do not belong to customer service but to the liability umbrella DonauCapital, to BaFin and to the arbitration body – a call there does not replace support. From a regulatory point of view, the structure is sound: finanzen.net zero is entered in the BaFin register as a tied agent, and account and custody account management is handled by Baader Bank as a German deposit-taking credit institution. Securities are special assets (Sondervermögen), and account balances are covered by statutory deposit protection (Einlagensicherung). Scoring (0/4): Since no telephone support exists for customers, the methodology awards no points in this chapter (0/4).

Conclusion: finanzen.net zero review

86/100
Very good (1.7)

finanzen.net zero scores 86 out of 100 points, making it one of the cheapest neobrokers in our review: free custody account, free savings plans from 1 euro and commission-free orders from 500 euros. The price for this is the missing Xetra access, the lack of bonds and above all the complete lack of telephone support. For price-conscious savings plan investors the custody account is a good choice, but not for investors who need advice or want access to the exchanges.
