easyname brings an unusual combination to the VPS comparison: an Austrian data centre, a genuine traffic flat rate, an included Windows licence and a German-language support team on the phone. Anyone who wants to automate, on the other hand, hits a wall – there is no API, no CLI and no Terraform provider for the Cloud Servers. We assessed easyname across all five chapters using our vServer methodology.

Highlights of our easyname review

  • From €6.90 a month (promotion €3.45)
  • Vienna data centre, ISO/IEC 27001
  • Traffic flat rate
  • Windows licence included

1 Performance & specifications

21/28
Points
The Linux range comprises six sizes: Cloud Server XS with 1 vCore, 2 GB RAM and 50 GB SSD at a regular €6.90 a month (including 20% Austrian VAT, €3.45 for the first 6 months) up to XXL with 16 vCore, 32 GB RAM and 800 GB SSD for €54.90. Comparable in specs to the Hetzner CX23 or the netcup VPS 500 is the Cloud Server S with 2 vCore, 4 GB RAM and 100 GB SSD at a regular €10.90 – around double the German competitors. As its underlying hardware easyname names current DELL PowerEdge servers; the specific CPU generation is not published, and there is no dedicated vCPU option. Storage is on SSD, not NVMe. CPU, RAM and storage can be upgraded with a click and without a restart, but nothing can be configured continuously, and GPU instances are missing. Availability is stated as 99.9%; no credit arrangement is documented. The operating system list, with Debian 10–12, Ubuntu 20.04/22.04, AlmaLinux 8/9, RockyLinux 8 and Windows Server 2016–2022, is a step behind the market – Debian 13 and Ubuntu 24.04 LTS are missing.

2 Network & traffic

11/20
Points
The traffic flat rate is genuine: no volume limit, no extra billing for load peaks – that earns full marks on that sub-criterion. It is held back by the connection. easyname guarantees a peak bandwidth of 120 Mbit/s per server; Hetzner delivers 10 Gbit/s, netcup 2.5 Gbit/s, even the throttled Contabo entry plan 200 Mbit/s. For a web server that is enough, but for backup transfers, media files or migrations it is the bottleneck in our rating. Network functionality is limited to the essentials: one IPv4 and one IPv6 address are included, and further IPv4 addresses are available only on request. easyname does not offer load balancers, floating IPs or private networks – anyone who wants to connect several servers has to build that themselves.

3 Management & tools

7/20
Points
Management is split across two interfaces: contract and billing in the easyname Control Panel, the server itself in the CloudPit server management system with one-click OS installation, VNC console and a backup/snapshot dashboard. CloudPit is tidy and is explicitly praised in customer reviews, yet jumping between two panels remains a break in the experience. The major shortfall concerns automation: the CloudPit API (v2/v3, JSON:API) covers domains, web hosting, DNS zones and certificates – there are no endpoints for Cloud Servers; the server appears there only as an SSO jump target. There is no CLI and no Terraform provider. Infrastructure as code is not possible with easyname. Managed Kubernetes, managed databases or a PaaS are also missing; as a substitute there is Plesk Obsidian as a paid add-on and a managed server service with monitoring, updates and either 8/5 or 24/7 standby. Practical note: new servers are checked manually before activation, which takes up to 24 hours on working days – the cloud-typical spin-up in seconds is not available here.

4 Security & backup

14/18
Points
The data centre in Vienna is certified to ISO/IEC 27001, with biometric access control, 24/7 video surveillance, redundant air conditioning and UPS; the electricity is nuclear-free and CO2-neutral. For GDPR purposes all data stays in the EU, but there is no German data centre or SOC 2 certification, and because Vienna is the only location, geo-redundancy cannot be chosen either. DDoS protection is included according to the provider; no mitigation capacity is quantified anywhere, and the topic does not appear on the product page at all. On backups easyname delivers more than the price suggests: daily backups run automatically, access goes back seven days, and both the complete server and individual files can be restored. Manual snapshots before risky changes are also available. Technically, full and incremental backups lie behind this, and they can be mounted as a drive. This is the only point on which easyname clearly beats the German competitors in the rating field – at Hetzner and netcup, automatic backups cost extra.

5 Price & support

7/14
Points
Entry costs a regular €6.90 a month for the Cloud Server XS, €3.45 for the first 6 months. As always, we rate the regular price – the promotional price runs out, the regular one stays. As is typical for easyname, all prices include 20% Austrian VAT, so the comparison with German gross prices comes out slightly to easyname's disadvantage. Billing is monthly on a one-month term, with no set-up fee and a 30-day money-back guarantee; there is no billing by the hour as at Hetzner or netcup, and according to a footnote the promotional prices are partly tied to minimum terms. Support is the strength: German-language by phone (+43 1 353 2222), live chat and ticket, plus one of the most extensive VPS tutorial collections in the German-speaking world with more than 80 guides from Docker to Mailcow to Shopware. The team can only be reached Monday to Thursday 9am–6pm and Friday 9am–5pm, however – no weekends, no night shift. For a server that also runs at night, that is the most sensitive gap in the offering; 24/7 standby is available only in the paid managed server service.

Conclusion: easyname review

60/100
Good (3.0)

easyname is a classic host with a VPS offering, not a cloud provider. For beginners, Windows users and anyone who gives more weight to an Austrian server location and a German-speaking contact on the phone than to technology, the offering is coherent. For developers and agencies who roll out servers via API, need load balancers or move large amounts of data, easyname is not an option in the comparison field – the tools are simply missing, and 120 Mbit/s is too little in 2026.
