What does a meal kit really cost? Prices 2026

The standard box: 3 dishes for 2 people

Three dishes for two people is the box every provider offers – and therefore the fairest comparison. We use the regular price from the second delivery onwards, i.e. without the new-customer discount, plus shipping per box.

The differences between providers are small for the standard box – less than one euro per portion. Note what the price includes: at Wyldr the base price is for organic dishes without meat or fish; dishes with meat or fish cost €3.49 extra per meal. HelloFresh ('meat & veggies') and Tischline (Classic) include meat dishes in the price used.

Box size decides the price

Box size matters far more than the provider. Shipping is charged per box, and the box price per portion also falls with every additional dish. Ordering few dishes for few people almost doubles the price per portion.

The most expensive portion in the whole comparison costs €11.44 (Marley Spoon, 2 people × 2 dishes), the cheapest €4.86 (Wyldr, 6 people × 7 dishes). Tischline only offers boxes from three dishes per week.

For families: 4 dishes for 4 people

With 16 portions per week, shipping hardly matters any more. Projected over a month (52 weeks ÷ 12), a family box still costs over €350 – for just four dinners a week.

For one person: hardly any offers

Of the 4 providers, only Marley Spoon offers a box for one person. The smallest option with 4 dishes costs €38.76 plus shipping, €45.75 in total – i.e. €11.44 per portion. At the other providers, singles have to order at least the box for two people.

According to the order process, dishes with organic meat or fish cost €3.49 extra per meal. The homepage advertises 'from €4.11 per organic meal', the order process 'from €4.95 per portion'; the lowest price shown was €4.69 (6 people, 7 dishes).

Tischline (shipping €5.90, Classic subscription (with meat & fish))

Subscription shipping is a flat €5.90; delivery with a time slot may cost extra depending on the region.

Advertised price and actual price

• 'From' prices apply to the largest box. The advertised price per portion usually refers to the largest box and excludes shipping.
• New-customer discounts are temporary. Discounts on the first boxes can be large; afterwards the regular price shown here applies. The subscription renews automatically until you pause or cancel it.
• Surcharges for individual recipes. Premium dishes, meat or fish options and extras cost more depending on the provider.
• What is not in the box: basics such as oil, salt, pepper or butter usually have to be at home already. A comparison of providers with features and delivery areas is in the meal kit comparison.

Methodology

Prices were collected on 8 November 2026 in the providers' order processes, without a voucher code and without logging in. We use the regular box price charged after the new-customer discount ends, plus shipping per box for standard delivery. Price per portion = (box price + shipping) ÷ (people × dishes). At Marley Spoon the diet 'I like everything' was selected, at HelloFresh 'meat & veggies', at Tischline the Classic subscription, at Wyldr the base price without meat or fish. Monthly figures assume 52 deliveries per year. Included are providers that ship a weekly meal kit with recipes and pre-portioned fresh ingredients on subscription in Germany. Not included are providers of dry-goods or gift boxes and providers that could not be ordered in Germany at the time of collection.
