About Petprotect
PETPROTECT is not an insurance company in its own right but an insurance brand from the ProSiebenSat.1 group's environment, which has become known mainly through TV advertising since 2019. The brand owner is a company of the ProSiebenSat.1 or Seven.One group, based in Unterföhring near Munich. The risk carriers and contractual partners of customers are Barmenia Versicherungen in Wuppertal, specifically Barmenia Allgemeine Versicherungs-AG and Barmenia Krankenversicherung AG; before that, DFV Deutsche Familienversicherung stood behind the brand. The brand itself is therefore not subject to insurance supervision by BaFin (the German financial regulator) of its own, but the Barmenia companies behind it are. The offer includes pet health and pet surgery cost insurance for dogs and cats, as well as dog liability.
