About MVK Versicherung
MVK Versicherung VVaG, based in Karlsruhe, was founded in 1899 as the Feuerversicherungs-Genossenschaft Deutscher Buchdrucker (a fire insurance cooperative for German printers) and for a long time operated mainly for printers and publishers as Medien-Versicherung a.G. Karlsruhe. The company has been based in Karlsruhe since 1948 and has also insured private customers since 1988. As a mutual insurance association (Versicherungsverein auf Gegenseitigkeit, VVaG), MVK belongs to its members and is subject to insurance supervision by BaFin (the German financial regulator). For private customers there is personal liability, home contents and pet owner's liability for dogs and horses, which are often taken out via comparison portals and brokers. There is no deposit protection (Einlagensicherung), as no bank deposits are taken.
