About J&T Direktbank
J&T Direktbank is backed by J&T Banka, a.s., founded in 1998 and based in Prague, which belongs to the Czech-Slovak J&T financial group. Since 2023 it has been active on the German market through a branch in Frankfurt am Main, where it operates exclusively as a direct bank without a branch network. The offer is limited to traditional deposit products: a variable-rate call money account (Tagesgeld) and fixed-term deposits (Festgeld) with terms from several months up to ten years, each with a minimum investment and a ceiling per customer. The legal entity is the Czech bank, so banking supervision lies with the Czech National Bank (Česká národní banka); BaFin (the German financial regulator) carries out only limited supervision of the branch. Deposit protection is provided by the Czech deposit guarantee system (Garanční systém finančního trhu), which, under EU rules, covers €100,000 per customer.
Special features
- Branch under § 53b KWG (the German Banking Act provision for EU branches), based in Frankfurt am Main
- Supervision by the Czech National Bank instead of BaFin
- Protection via the Czech Garanční systém finančního trhu
- Part of the Czech-Slovak J&T financial group
