About Hannoversche Versicherung

Hannoversche Lebensversicherung AG was founded on 29 October 1875 as the Preußischer Beamten-Verein and is regarded as the oldest direct insurer in Germany. Since the merger with VHV in 2003 it has been the direct insurer of the VHV Gruppe, based in Hanover. It sells directly to customers without a field sales force of its own, which lowers acquisition and distribution costs. The product focus is on term life insurance, funeral cover insurance, disability and basic ability cover, and retirement provision products. As a German life insurance stock corporation, Hannoversche is subject to BaFin supervision (BaFin is the German financial regulator) and is a member of the Protektor guarantee fund; there is no deposit protection (Einlagensicherung) in the banking-law sense.
