About Getsafe

Getsafe was founded in Heidelberg in 2015 and handles taking out policies, contract changes and claims entirely through its app and website. In 2021 the company received its own BaFin permit for property and accident insurance but handed it back voluntarily: BaFin revoked the permit of Getsafe Insurance AG at the end of 2025, and the insurance portfolio passed to Andsafe, a subsidiary of Provinzial. Since then Getsafe has again acted as an intermediary or underwriting agency (Assekuradeur) and has the risks carried by partner insurers; as a result it is no longer subject to its own insurance supervision by BaFin (the German financial regulator). The offer includes personal liability, home contents, dog liability, legal expenses and dental supplementary cover, generally with very short notice periods. The provider is mainly of interest to customers who want to manage their contracts purely digitally.

Special features

  • Received its own BaFin licence in 2021, handed it back voluntarily in 2025
  • The portfolio of Getsafe Insurance AG was taken over by Andsafe
  • Today works as an intermediary with partner insurers as risk carriers
  • Products are also available in other European markets
