About Dr. Klein
Dr. Klein Privatkunden AG was founded in Lübeck in 1954 and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the listed Hypoport SE. It mainly arranges mortgages, as well as instalment loans, insurance and investment products – via the group's own loan marketplace Europace, to which around 600 banks, Sparkassen, cooperative banks, building societies and insurers are connected. Advice is provided through more than 200 mostly franchise-run locations with several hundred advisers, as well as online and by phone. Dr. Klein is not a bank but a property loan broker (Immobiliardarlehensvermittler) with a permit under section 34i of the Trade Regulation Act (GewO); the relevant Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) is responsible, not BaFin (the German financial regulator), and there is no deposit protection (Einlagensicherung) because no customer funds are held. The loan contract is always concluded directly with the lending institution, and the bank pays the fee. The provider suits borrowers who want personal advice locally and also want regional institutions in the comparison.
