The insurance group die Bayerische, formerly known as Bayerische Beamten Versicherungen, is based in Munich-Neuperlach. Its roots go back to 1858, when a death benefit fund for Bavarian civil servants was set up in Munich. The group's parent company is Bayerische Beamten Lebensversicherung a.G., a mutual insurance association (Versicherungsverein auf Gegenseitigkeit); alongside it are, among others, Bayerische Beamten Versicherung AG and BA die Bayerische Allgemeine Versicherung AG. All German risk carriers are subject to insurance supervision by BaFin (the German financial regulator). For private customers there are life and pension insurance, disability and term life cover, property and liability products, as well as health and dental supplementary insurance and dog health or dog surgery plans.
