About Deutsche Familienversicherung
DFV Deutsche Familienversicherung AG was founded in Frankfurt am Main in 2006 and received BaFin's permit to operate primary insurance business on 1 January 2007. Unlike many insurtechs, DFV is therefore a risk carrier itself and is subject to German insurance supervision (BaFin is the German financial regulator). The focus is on a few deliberately simple products: supplementary dental, hospital, long-term care and accident insurance, as well as pet health, pet surgery and pet owner's liability insurance. Contracts are mostly taken out directly online. The company has been listed on the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 2018 and has announced its withdrawal from the exchange.
Special features
- Founded in 2006, BaFin permit as a primary insurer since early 2007
- Listed on the Prime Standard since 2018, withdrawal from the exchange announced
- Was for a time the risk carrier behind the pet insurance brand PETPROTECT
- Product development geared to standardised plans that can be taken out directly
