About DELA
DELA Lebensversicherungen is the German branch of DELA Natura- en levensverzekeringen N.V., based in Eindhoven. The parent company was founded in the Netherlands in 1937 as a funeral society and belongs to the cooperatively organised DELA Coöperatie. The German branch in Düsseldorf has existed since 2018; it mainly offers funeral cover insurance (Sterbegeldversicherung) and term life insurance for providing for surviving dependants. Because it is the branch of a Dutch insurer, ongoing supervision lies not with BaFin (the German financial regulator) but with De Nederlandsche Bank and the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM); BaFin only exercises limited supervision over the German branch. There is no deposit protection (Einlagensicherung), as no bank deposits are taken.
