CosmosDirekt is the brand of Cosmos Lebensversicherungs-AG and Cosmos Versicherung AG, based in Saarbrücken. Cosmos Lebensversicherungs-AG was founded in Saarland in 1950 and has carried its current name since 1960; since 1998 the group has belonged to Generali Deutschland. CosmosDirekt is regarded as one of the largest direct insurers in Germany and is a leader in term life insurance. Besides term life insurance there is personal liability, home contents, legal expenses, accident, motor and retirement provision products. Both risk carriers are German stock corporations under BaFin supervision (BaFin is the German financial regulator); the life insurer is a member of the Protektor guarantee fund.
